Danish homeware brand Søstrene Grene celebrates their 50th anniversary this year. 'Half a century has gone by, but much is still exactly as it was when the concept was created in 1973: rooted in Danish design traditions, inspired by ideas from all over the world', the brand mentions in a press release. The milestone is celebrated with an anniversary collection and a strategic expansion.
The retailer has revealed their plans to open a flagship store in Central London. It has secured a lease for a 5,000-square-foot space on Tottenham Court Walk. The opening is expected to take place in December and will be the second Søstrene Grene store in London, following its Wandsworth location that opened in April this year.
Søstrene Grene has ambitious plans for expansion in the UK, aiming to open 100 new stores by 2030 of which 10 by the end of the year. With a strong presence in other European countries such as France, with 35 stores, and Germany, soon to have 70 stores, the brand is confident in its UK expansion efforts. 'We are thrilled by the wonderful welcome we have received at all our new locations and we cannot wait for the journey to continue', the brand said on LinkedIn.
Søstrene Grene's expansion is venturing into the digital sphere, as it prepares to launch webshops in Austria, Belgium, Ireland, and Switzerland in 2023. The UK webshop, which was successfully introduced in early September, has already garnered significant attention.
