Outdoor workplace design at Fritz Hansen’s headquarters

Fritz Hansen expands their workspace into the natural surroundings to enhance employee well-being and creativity. Their Allerød headquarters, nestled near an old beech forest, now includes outdoor workspaces with tables, benches, lounge areas, and sun chairs. Employees can enjoy informal meetings and breaks in these serene settings, fostering a more relaxed and sociable atmosphere.

The Fritz Hansen headquarters have been in Allerød, north of Copenhagen for over 100 years. The location was chosen because at the forest’s edge, the Hansens could build a sawmill and obtain the wood for manufacturing on their doorstep. Although no longer used for wood, the forest provides a serene backdrop and a natural reminder of Fritz Hansen’s origin story.

The outdoor furniture, part of the Skagerak Collection, is crafted from responsibly sourced materials, like 100% FSC-certified teak and western red cedar, which develop a nice patina over time. This expansion brings Fritz Hansen closer to its Nordic design inspiration and strengthens the connection between iconic design and contemporary work life.
